Its emblem, the Lion of St. Mark, was chosen in 1848 for its Italian business; until then the company had used the double-headed eagle of the Habsburgs, adopted in 1833. The lion still earns the group its nickname, the “Lion of Trieste”.
In 2025, Generali had more than 88,000 employees and 163,000 agents serving 75 million customers, with 98.1 billion euros in premiums. In France, its turnover was 19.5 billion euros in 2025; it has 9,300 employees and 8 million customers there.
An Official Partner of LaListe, Generali hosted its guests at a table of the LaListe Gala at the Quai d’Orsay, in 2024 and again in 2025. Its lion was already on the partners’ wall at the LaListe 2020 ceremony, in December 2019.
