Domaine MIA: biodynamics in the Côte Chalonnaise

A partner of LaListe, Domaine MIA farms eighteen hectares in Mercurey and Rully, in the Côte Chalonnaise. Organic since 2011, it has been certified biodynamic since 2023.

Domaine MIA farms eighteen hectares of vines in the Côte Chalonnaise, south of the Côte de Beaune, across two appellations: Mercurey and Rully. It is one of the largest estates in the Côte Chalonnaise farmed entirely organically.

From 1860 to biodynamics

It all goes back to the Clos La Marche, created in Mercurey in 1860. In 2020, the estate’s owner handed the keys to his daughter, Mia.

The estate had been organic since 2011, certified by Ecocert. Mia took it into biodynamics, and it was certified by Demeter in 2023. It makes its own compost from vine cuttings and cow manure, treats the vines with plant and flower teas and honey from its own hives, and picks by hand.

Mercurey and Rully

The estate has two Mercurey Premiers Crus. In Les Vasées, the vines grow in deep marl full of small stones. The Clos des Montaigus is one of the appellation’s five historic Premiers Crus: its young vines, planted in 2017, are worked entirely by hand, and the 2021 vintage came to just 400 bottles.

In Mercurey, the estate also makes the Clos La Marche, a 3.48-hectare monopole, and the climats Les Rochelles and Les Caudroyes. In Rully, it makes a white, Les Plantenays. The reds are Pinot Noir, the whites Chardonnay. In the Clos La Marche and Les Rochelles, some vines are sixty years old or more.

In the cellar

The wines are made and aged in the estate’s underground cellars in Nuits-Saint-Georges, with native yeasts. The reds ferment with 40% whole bunches and spend twelve to thirteen months in French oak; the whites, ten to twelve months. The estate also makes a Bourgogne with no added sulphites.

Several of its wines have won gold at the ELLE à Table competition, among them Les Rochelles 2022 and 2023 and the Clos des Montaigus 2021. They are sold by wine merchants and on the estate’s website.

Alongside LaListe

Domaine MIA is a partner of LaListe. At the 2025 Gala, on November 24 at the Quai d’Orsay, its Mercurey Les Rochelles 2022 was poured at dinner with Guy Savoy’s dish, and its Mercurey 1er Cru Les Vasées 2022 with Daniel Boulud’s. It also took part in the Garden Party in June 2026 and in the LaListe Japan evening in Tokyo on October 5, 2026. Château Pech-Latt, in the Corbières, belongs to the same company, NSG Vins, and also supports LaListe’s events.
